Manchester City boss, Pep Guardiola, has provided an update on the supposed move for Swiss defender of Nigerian descent, Manuel Obafemi Akanji, who currently plays for Borussia Dortmund.
Guardiola spoke after Manchester City’s Premier League 6-0 thrashing of Nottingham Forest on Wednesday night.
The Spaniard said at his post-match press conference: “The club tells me that the deal is still not done.
“I don’t think [there will be any more arrivals]. But nobody knows.”
Meanwhile, Manchester United announced that their winger, Amad Diallo, has left the club to join Sunderland on loan.
The Red Devils disclosed this in a statement via its website on transfer deadline day (Wednesday).
The statement read in part, “Manchester United winger Amad is joining Sunderland on loan for the rest of the 2022/23 season, subject to registration.
“The Ivory Coast international helped Rangers reach the Europa League final and win the Scottish Cup during his temporary spell with the Glasgow club for the second half of last season.”
Amad scored three times during his loan spell at Rangers, including a goal just four minutes into his debut against Ross County.
