Tottenham Hotspur missed an opportunity to move into the Premier League‘s top four as they were held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham.
Despite the chance to leapfrog Aston Villa in the table before their upcoming clash against Manchester City, Spurs couldn’t capitalize on their rivals’ slip-up.
Brennan Johnson opened the scoring for Ange Postecoglou’s side with an early tap-in from close range, after a Timo Werner’s low cross.
However, Tottenham’s lead was short-lived as Kurt Zouma equalized for the Hammers from a corner, to spur David Moyes’s side after a sluggish start.
Throughout the match, West Ham posed constant threat from set pieces, keeping Spurs on their toes.
After the break, Ange Postecoglou’s men dominated play, but it was West Ham who had the best chance to snatch a winner.
Michail Antonio found himself one-on-one with goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario, only to shoot straight at the keeper.
Despite efforts by both teams for a winner, neither could find the breakthrough, resulting in a level finish to the match.
