Imo State Chairman of Action Peoples Party, APP, Ernest Njesi, has said that there is no political maneuvering that can stop the existence of the party both in the State and at the Federal level.
He asserted that All Progressives Congress, APC, was jittery of the rising popularity and wide acceptability of APP in the State, hence the move to get the party deregistered.
The APP State chairman made the statement during a media interface at the party Secretariat in Owerri, where he alleged that some APC sponsored individuals went to court calling for the removal of APP from the INEC list.
Njesi pointed out that APP is legitimately and legally registered and ready to contest the 2027 elections having been fully recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.
He maintained that the party had won elective positions in previous elections and featured prominently in the just concluded FCT council election, which showed that it is legally recognized by INEC.
The APP State Chairman added that the party has wide grassroots recognition across the hinterlands of the State and stands a better chance to win majority seats in the forthcoming polls both at the State and Federal levels.
He further alleged that the APC, afraid of losing elections in 2027, is hiding under the cover of some individuals to call for the deregistration of APP, a party he said has people-driven ideologies which focused much on lifting humanity.
“APP is legally and legitimately registered. Only overzealous individuals in the polity are calling for its deregistration.
“In 2027, we will contest election under INEC guidelines. They are fighting the party because of its formidable existence with
wide spread popularity and overwhelming acceptability at the grassroots,” Njesi maintained.
In their separate speeches, the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Cajetan Duke and its Legal Adviser, Uche Nwosu, maintained that APP is poised to implement people-oriented policies that will guarantee economic stability, security, as well as improve citizens’ rights.
