The Taminu Turaki-led faction of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Friday met with former President, Goodluck Jonathan ahead of the 2027 general elections.
DAILY POST reports that the faction had announced the former president in absentia as its presidential candidate in next year’s general.
He was not present at the event where his nomination was formally ratified.
Despite being announced as the faction’s presidential candidate, Jonathan has not publicly declared interest in running for the presidency in 2027.

Recall that on May 7, Jonathan said he would consult widely before deciding whether to run in the 2027 election, after a group of protesters stormed his Abuja office and urged him to declare for the presidency.
Meanwhile, he has not yet addressed the press since then.
Details of the factional PDP meeting with the former president is yet to be ascertained as of the time of filing this report.
