Elections in Nigeria not completely decided by electorate – Tambuwal

Sokoto South Senator, Aminu Tambuwal, says elections in Nigeria are not completely decided by the electorate.
Tambuwal made this statement on Monday when he appeared as a guest in an interview on ‘Prime Time’, a programme on Arise Television.

The former Sokoto State Governor stated that at collation levels, things happen that misrepresent the votes cast by the people.

According to him, politicians take advantage of loopholes, and the officials the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, are compromised.

“It’s not completely decided by the electorates. I can say that and without mincing words.

“We know quite often times that at coalition level or be it at the polling unit, at the ward level, at local government level, at the state level or even at the national level, things happen that misrepresent what voters actually vote.

“The system is breaking away through the INEC, the court and the politicians because the politicians try to find corners to cut. So wherever there’s a loophole, politicians take advantage of that loophole,” he said.
